It may be right to assume that Blackjack is one of the most complex casino games. It is a popular American variation of Twenty-One, a comparison game that tests your ability to make the correct prediction about which card will be drawn and the value of your cards. To understand why it is important to always hit on 16 in blackjack, you have to understand the basic rules of the game.
Blackjack Basic Rules
Blackjack is a probability and comparison card game played between one or more players and the dealer. All you need to do is not get busted by exceeding 21 points and get higher points than the dealer but not exceed 21 points. This is why the game was traditionally known as Twenty-One.
When to Hit
There is no one single way of making sure you win, but generally, players prefer to hit at 16. Be it a soft 16 or a hard one, and players generally agree that you should always hit a 16 against the dealer’s 10. On the other hand, there is the misconception that it’s okay to hit against the dealer’s 10 but not the 7, yet in both cases, you have the chance to win. A 16 is the closest to a bust, and most people shy away from it and stand. But if you are good player, you’ll know that it’s better to take your chances.
Let’s Take the Case of a Hard 16
A hand with a hard 16 does not contain an Ace, and if it’s there, it has 1 point. You should always hit on 16 when the dealer displays a card with high value from 7. This way, you will lose less money though it is no guarantee that you will win. But, losing less money is just as important as winning in hand. Additionally, you increase your winning chances by 4% if you hit.
What About a Soft 16?
This is one of the most basic unspoken rules, always hit on a soft 16. You could try your luck by doubling it, but if not, never stand and never surrender.
Blackjack is almost an instinctive game; over a couple of games, you tend to get the gist. In the meanwhile, follow the most basic rule, always hit on 16.
